Guest Post: Kimia

Hey guys!

It's Kimia.

I've been looking online for some cute DIY crafts that I can use as decorations in my room, and this particular idea looked really cool to me.

FLOWER LIGHTS! made from the simplest materials that are available in any craft/department store.

The materials needed are:

-different colors and different sizes of cupcake/muffin liners.

-a string of fairy (or Christmas) lights.

-one pair of scissors.

-one Stanley knife.

Here are the steps to making the flower lights:

Step 1: Fold the cupcake/muffin liners into triangles (as shown in the picture) and use the scissors to cut the corners off. A few of the liners should be cut to a point to be used as the flower base, and a few of the other colored liners should be cut so that they have rounded edges to be used as the flower body. Keep the other colored liners in their original, round shape, and these will be used as the center of the flower.

Step 2: Cut/poke holes (approximately the size of each of the fairy/Christmas lights) in each of the liners.

Step 3: Stick one of the lights through one of the liners that represent the flower base. Then stick one of the liners that represent the flower body on top. Finally, stick one of the round liners that represent the center of the flower on top of the second layer.

Step 4: Repeat the steps for the rest of the lights and hang them wherever you like.

MUN Conferences

Hey guys!

So this year I'm in MUN again. I've signed up for two different MUN conferences which I'm going to. I'm going to AMUN and THIMUN.

AMUN is in Amen, Jordan which will be super cool. We have a bunch of things planned out for that including a trip to the Dead Sea. I'm super excited. AMUN is in late October/early November, so you can expect blog entries about Jordan in November!

THIMUN is in the Hague, Netherlands. I'm super excited about this one because it's one of the biggest MUN conferences to exist and has a huge waiting list, but my school gets to go so I get to and oh my gosh, I can't even. Not to mention, I might see one of my old buddies there! It's one of things I'm looking forward most to this school year. THIMUN is during the last few days of January so you can expect blog posts in the beginning of February. I'm not really sure if we have any plans there, but you'll find out in January or February. :)

I'm super excited! I can't even honestly. Plus, I think we might be going somewhere for the winter holidays, but I could be wrong. And I know for sure we're going to the US for summer, so keep in tune for those updates as well! :D

In Sudan!

Hey guys!

So I've finally arrived in Sudan! Yay! It isn't what I was expecting it to be like. For starters, my house is 3 stories tall, with a garden up front and 3 rotating guards. The guards are strictly for our house and our neighbor, because we aren't living in a neighborhood or anything.

The school is kinda small but it's relatively big. They have an amazing drama, art, and music department though. But Sudan itself seems to be mostly dessert. So there isn't much to do here. But at least all the people here are super nice. I'm sure there is more to do here, but I still need to find out what. I've only been here for around two days, but aside for checking out the school and settling in, we haven't done much.

Double Eyeliner

Hey guys!

So this has been sort of a new, fun trend this summer. In case you don't know what it is, it's when you put two layers of eyeliner on your eyelid. They'll be of different colors of course. I've seen and heard of it but never did it before and so this morning I decided to try it out! I used gold and black. Here's out mine ended out:

Haha my eyes look kinda creepy in that second picture. Oh well...

Anyways what to do if you wanna try this out:

1. Pick two colors (I suggest black and another lighter color)

2. Apply the darker eyeliner on your eyelid like you would normally do.

3. Apply the lighter eyeliner directly above or slightly overlapping the previous eyeliner.

That's it! It may not look perfect at your first try, but practice makes perfect right? :P Anyways, let me know what you think of mine and show me if you try it out yourself.

Temporary tattoo

Hey guys!

So on my summer bucket list item number 1 is "Create a temporary tattoo with a sharpie, baby powder, and hairspray." I just accomplished that! :D I made a tattoo on my wrist. It's just the word "wanderlust". Here's a picture of my tattoo:

I wanted it to be in black, but I don't have a black sharpie so... Anyways I'll explain to you guys how to do it now!

Materials:

∞ Sharpie

∞ Baby Powder

∞ Hairspray

Instructions:

1. Write/draw your tattoo with the sharpie on whatever body part you want it on.

2. Put some baby powder over it so that there's a thin layer of powder on it.

3. From a good distance spray the hairspray on it. You don't want it to be too close or to spray too much on it because the sharpie will start running and smudge everywhere and your tattoo will be ruined. Unless you like that look.

4. Let it dry.

That's it! It's super simple and easy. :) The tattoo should last for around a month. Let me know if you try it out and what your tattoo was! :D

Victoria's Secret Bombshell Summer Perfume

Hey guys!

So my dad just got back from the US and while he was there, I asked him to pick up a few things from Victoria's Secret for me. He didn't get everything I asked, but he got enough. One of the things he got was the Victoria's Secret Bombshell Summer. Here is a quick mini review of it for you all! :)

I love it! It's a very fruity scent. On the box and online describes it as "A splash of summer. A glamorous escape. Feel the radiance with sparkling, ah kissed citrus and bright florals." It also says that it consists of "Juicy Grapefruit, Black Currant, and Lily of the Valley". And if you guys are anything like me your probably totally lost and confused on what that smells like. It's basically a very sweet scent which has a great mixture between fruity and floral. Though the fruitiness does shine through more. It's just absolutely perfect for summer. It's my official summer scent if that's a thing. Anyways, I'm addicted to it's scent. It's absolutely wonderful. So I highly recommend you all get it if you like that fun, feminine, fruity flavor in your perfume. If you do decide that you're going to get it, you better get it soon because it's limited edition!

Ukulele!

Hey guys!

So if you are one of my Instagram followers, you'd know that a couple of days ago I bought a ukulele! :D

I've been practicing and have memorized how to play Tonight You Belong To Me on it. Once I get better at it, I shall film a video and post it on YouTube and here.

Along with getting my ukulele, we also got an electric guitar (which is actually my brother's but I play it too). So including our previous instruments we now currently have 8 instruments! :D 2 acoustic guitars, 2 violins, 1 banjo, 1 ukulele, and 1 electric guitar. I hope to build this collection with more instruments. Just so you know, we don't just simply "collect" these instruments. I actually know how to play each and every single one. My brother knows how to play most. :D We (my brother and I) also know how to play the piano, though we don't own one. We aren't all that good either, but we both would like to improve.

Salipe

Hey guys!!!

So, I had quite a day. I spent it with my crush. And we nearly kissed a million times! Honestly, I really wish we did! Like it was nose touching, forehead touching, lip licking, waist grabbing, and all that jazz but we still didn't freaking kiss! Oh the frustration. And the look on his face! His eyes staring at my lips as he bent down and our foreheads touched and he'd tilt his head a little to the left so our noses would bump and lean in until there was a centimeter of space left between our lips. But that's the most that ever happened.

One time we nearly did kiss. Like our lips were just about to meet but I kinda flinched which caused him to pull back. Uhh I wish I didn't flinch. What do u think? I really shouldn't have flinched should I?

He was playing COD with my brotherand every time he'd get upset, he'd turn to me, grunt and grab my face. He'd just rest his forehead against mine and just stare into my eyes. And he'd calm down as I patted his head and whispered that it'd be okay. And when he'd win, he'd get so excited, jumping and screaming and then he'd lean over and nearly kiss me but pull away right at the end whilst I cheer him on this whole time.

At one point, he stole my phone and whilst I was trying to get it back we somehow ended up kinda dancing. Like my arms were around his neck, his around my waist and he'd spin me around and I just thought that it was so cute. 

Anyways I was telling my friend about all of this, and she came up with a ship name for us... Salipe. It's because I'm Samantha and he's Felipe so Salipe. Get it? Get it? Aren't we just hilarious? :P Jk, I know we're not.

Crazy Weekend

Hey guys!

So I meant to post this earlier, but here it is now. :)

Last last weekend (May 16th) I had an awesome weekend. Friday was my friend's birthday party and Saturday was prom. :D My friend's birthday party was so much fun. We got to hang out in her swimming pool, dance, etc. It was so much fun. Here are some pictures. xD I got home at midnight and finally fell asleep at 1ish.


Prom was James Bond theme. It was a mixture of slow dances and pop. There were couples everywhere which was kinda annoying, but I did get to slow dance with some guys so that was nice. Anyways here are some pictures. Nevertheless it was so much fun

My Goodbye Party

Hey guys!

So next next weekend, I think I'm gonna through a goodbye party for myself since I'm moving and I need a playlist. It's gonna be at my swimming pool with a bunch of people and hopefully they'll dance. :D

Happy Birthday Audrey!

Hey guys!

It's Audrey Hepburn's 85th birthday today! I love her. She was an amazing, kindhearted person. Most people probably know her from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. Audrey died on January 20, 1993 in her home from appendiceal cancer. Her funeral was held in Switzerland.

Audrey was named third among the Greatest Female Stars of All Time by the American Film Institute. She also earned a place in the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 1961. She's still a huge fashion icon among many people, including myself.

Anyway, she was an amazing person. Happy birthday sweetie!

I absolutely adore this quote, because I just think it's beautiful. To draw you truly do need to close your eyes and sing (though metaphorically speaking). I love Pablo Picasso. His quotes are beautiful. No matter what people say about him, I think he's amazing.

Uni-ball Pens

Hey guys!

Is it just me or are uni-ball pens magical? I mean honestly they're to die for! I love them so much. I literally had like a breakdown moment when I lost my black uni-ball pen. Turned out I put it on my nightstand. Nevertheless, they're fabulous! My friends tried to steal them once. I think someone did. I lost two of them, but my mom just bought me a whole new collection! Yay!

Anyways, they're the only pens that I use now. I used to use Pilot pens, which by the way are also really awesome, but uni-ball are just so much better!

Jobs I Wish I Had

Hey guys!

I don't have a job, aside for babysitter because I'm only a ninth grader. Anyways here's a list of jobs I wish I had.

Bookstore Owner

I'm a big fan of books. I love books! Books are my life. I'm one of those huge fangirls. Anyways, it would be so awesome if I could own a bookstore. Though I'd probably end up keeping all the books for myself. But it'd still be pretty awesome right?!

Writer

I grew up writing books and I still right all the time. Writing is so much fun to me, and I think it'd be awesome to have people read my stories. I just enjoy creating a whole new world. I love creating an amazing place to just escape.

Fashion Designer

I love fashion, art, and DIY. So being a fashion designer just makes sense to me. It'd be so cool to be able to create my own clothes! To open stores, to have my clothes on a runway, to have celebrities wear them. It'd be so cool.

Artist

I love art so it'd be amazing to be an artist. To have my art hung up in people's homes, in art galleries, coffee shops, museums, etc. The joys of painting, drawing, creating an animation movie, taking photos... I just absolutely love it.

My Top 10 Favorite Romantic Songs

Hey guys!

Through out my life, I've heard several adorably romantic songs. I know plenty of you have probably heard more, since I've only lived 14 years (though that feels like an incredibly long time - though it isn't really). Nevertheless, I've heard so many romantic songs that I thought I'd make a list of my top 10 favorite romantic songs. It's just my personal opinion. Some people might not even find all these songs romantic, but I do.


1. You Are My Sunshine by Jimmie Davis

I don't know why but I've always found this song very romantic... Is that weird? Honestly, sometimes I'll just sing myself to sleep with this song. I'm not sure if Jimmie Davis sang the original or not, but it's the closest I could get to the original.

2. Tonight You Belong To Me by Patience and Prudence
If you read my previous post, I am obsessed with this song. There's just something about it that I love. It makes me kind of sad though...

3. Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Frank Sinatra
I didn't expect to have this much Frank Sinatra in this list, but oh well. I love this song. It was my aunt and uncle's first dance at their wedding. After that I was like, "Oh my gosh, Frank Sinatra. Frank Sinatra. Frank Sinatra!" So yeah, this got me all into his music. Isn't it fabulous though?!

4. Love Me Tender by Elvis Presley

I love this song. I'm not a big Elvis fan but I do love some of his songs like this one. I originally found out about this song from my music class and after that I became obsessed over it.

5. So Close by Jon McLaughlin
For those of you Disnerds, you should know this. This is the song from Enchanted that Giselle and Robert danced to at the ball. Don't you think it's wonderful? It'd be a nice song for prom actually.

6. The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra
I love Frank Sinatra. I have no idea. There's something about his music that I just love. Especially in mornings. His voice is magical. For those nice cool mornings, listening to his music is just the best.

7. I Can't Stop Loving You by Frank Sinatra
Another fabulous song by the fabulous Frank Sinatra. You can't deny that this is amazing.

8. Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley
Here's another Elvis song that I'm in love with.

9. Kiss Me Quick by Elvis Presley
One more Elvis. Aside for the ones above I can only think of one more song by him.. It's kinda sad since he's actually not that bad. If you guys have any suggestions feel free to leave them in the comment! :) Anyways, you have to admit this is an amazing song! I love it. Normally I don't like happy songs, but I love this song even though it's upbeat and all.

10. SOS by Abba
I love Abba. Honestly they're one of my favorite bands! ^_^ I became obsessed with them after the movie Mamma Mia! This was one of my favorite songs, and it still is.

There are so many more amazing songs but for some reason I only decided to put 10 in. Oh well. If it were longer, the next song would have been Asleep by The Smiths. Anyways see you soon!

Tonight You Belong To Me

Hey guys!

Do any of you guys watch Bunheads? I love that TV show! It's about ballerinas. If you don't already watch it, I highly suggest that you start watching it. It's on ABC Family.

Also, do you guys know the song Tonight You Belong To Me? It's an old song. It's super sweet! I love that song. I love old music in general, because of all the history that comes along with it. They usually tell so many beautiful and amazing tales. Anyways, back to Tonight You Belong To Me... It's quite a popular song and there have been several covers made, in TV shows, by actresses/actors, singers, YouTube stars, and "normal" people. Zooey Deschanel sang a cover, which you can look up on YouTube. Anyways back to my main point, on one of the episodes of Bunheads, the main character Michelle and her brother does a cover of the song. That cover is by far my favorite. I've embed a YouTube video of the cover by Michelle and her brother - it's not in the best quality, but it's the best that I could find.

Now, here is a video of the original version of the song. I really love the original as well.

This song honestly for some reason makes me kinda sad... I don't know why.

Happy Birthday Shakespeare!

Hey guys!

It's Shakespeare's birthday! Happy birthday! It's not that big of a deal, but still...

Today, at school we all dressed up as a character from his plays. I dressed up as Hippolyta from a Midsummer Night's Dream. Hippolyta - for those of you who don't know here - is the Amazonian queen, which I think is quite awesome. It was awesome! During our breaks (break/recess & lunch break) we had plays going on. 6th - 10th grade had to each perform something. They all did skits, except for my grade. We performed a song (I wasn't one of them thankfully, I have horrible stage fright).

Some of the performances were really awesome. However one of the performances was of Macbeth, and that one really upset me because Lady Macbeth dies before Macbeth in the play, but in the performance she died after Macbeth. My brother had a performance of modern Romeo & Juliet (he was Juliet :P) which was quite interesting to say the least.

Death

Hi,

Yeah, I know this is one of the most depressing topics I could possibly ever talk about. But, I'm just curious, how do you guys deal with death? I just found out one of my friends died. Well I found out a few days ago, but it's still tearing me apart. We weren't that close. We were internet friends, but then again most of my friends are online nowadays with all the moving that my family does. So it felt like she was just one of the people I moved away from but stayed close with. Her name was Alicia Gutscher, more commonly known as Whisperwings on DeviantArt. Here is her Cancer Blog.

She died in February and I feel awful for not checking in on her more often. School has just been so busy and I know that's an awful excuse and I can't forgive myself. I know, there's nothing I could have done, but I just feel like I don't know.. I just feel really bad for not talking to her recently. I mean she was a friend of mine. She was one of the reasons that I focused on my art and started taking it seriously. And now she's just... Gone. I mean it doesn't seem real. I feel like if I refresh my DeviantArt tab often enough I'll find a message in my box saying that she's replied. But I know it's not ever going to happen. It hurts so much. I feel like I shouldn't be crying over her though. I mean her family should be. Her close friends. I feel like I don't have the right to, but I still do. I can't help it.

She died of stage 4 liver cancer. The incurable type. I don't know what's happened to her. I don't believe in heaven or any of that, because I'm atheist (I hope this doesn't upset anyone) but I do believe in the possibility. And right now I'm just hoping that it is real and that she made it to heaven and is happy there. And if there is internet in heaven and she happens upon this post, I would like her to know that I miss her terribly and we all do and that we hope that you're happy.

Musical Monday #8

Hey guys!

Sorry I missed last week, but I haven't missed today. :) Anyways, for those of you who are new, Musical Monday is a weekly linky hosted by My So-Called Chaos. I found a lot of songs through out these weeks, but I though I'd share this particular one with you.

I really want to share more but nevertheless here's Stay High by Hippie Sabotage. I was debating between Isabelle by Gregory and Hawk, A Wish by Gregory and Hawk, and Stay High by Hippie Sabotage. I don't know why but Stay High somehow won.

All of those songs are relatively sad songs. I know to some people Stay High doesn't seem like a sad song, but if you listen to the lyrics you'll see that it actually is kinda sad. If you decide to go listen to the other songs, then let me know what you think. I love Gregory and Hawk. The singer's voice, is so beautiful. :) I also really like Hippie Sabotage just because of the name. x)
